The Wonder Twins??? What's next, Ace the Bat-Hound?!?

Oh, wait.

For the two or three of you that are left watching Smallville, you may have noticed that lately, Superman has been doing a pretty good imitation of Batman. Complete with Dark clothing, a what can only be described as a black trenchcoat resembling a cape, and the need to stand high atop buildings, looking down at the city, waiting for something to happen.

Now, I understand the need for this series to forever put off two things: Clark's ability to fly, and the customary red and blue uniform that we've come to know over the past 70 plus years, however, if you're going to dip into a cartoon series to get your material, can't you do a little better?

The Wonder Twins were a good idea, but executed poorly, at least, last night. We really only got to see two transformations, and they were an afterthought to the larger issue of Clark becoming more super, his need to hide his true identity from Lois, and a suspect DA calling for "The Blur" to show himself.

But the even larger issue is, if you need to write Batman, why not just do it? The Warner Brothers and the incredibly cute Warner sister seem to have the need to keep Batman as a movie franchise, and nothing else. There were rumors of a "Graysons" TV pilot this last year, but I don't think anything came of that. I don't know why.

The Biff, Pow, Klang!!! of the sixties is long since gone, however, it should be possible to create a compelling hour TV show every week, featuring Batman. However, if the same people that did Birds of Prey get ahold of it, one can only dred the inevitable.

What I'd like for the WB to do, is simply commit to creating a good Batman TV show. Am I asking for too much?

Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Please, Retweet.
